Executive Board

The executive board is composed of an elected President and Vice President, who are accompanied by various appointed officers ranging in responsibility. Below are descriptions of each position. Contact information for each position can be found on our Leadership page.

The President shall be the chief executive of RHA, and as such shall serve as the recognized spokesperson for on-campus students. The following are duties of the President in greater detail:

  • Maintaining knowledge of university policies and serving as the primary consultant for policy-related inquiries
  • Holding regular one-on-one meetings with each executive board member 
  • Meeting with executives from other student organizations and senior campus administrators
  • Maintaining regular contact with and serving as a mentor for council presidents
  • Representing RHA as the organization’s RHA voting representative at NACURH-affiliated conferences, either personally or by proxy
  • In the absence of the vice president, the president shall serve in the vice president's capacity as chairperson of the Senate.

The Vice President shall serve as chairperson of the Senate meetings. The following are duties of the Vice President in greater detail:

  • Setting Senate agendas in consultation with the executive board and committee chairs
  • Conducting Senate meetings in a fashion that completes agendas efficiently and allows for broad, representative comments from the membership
  • Serving as the parliamentarian for RHA, which entails: 
    • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of rules governing RHA procedure and answering procedure-related inquiries 
    • Consulting with the executive board and ultimately proposing amendments to Part II of the RHA Standard Operating Procedures
    • Keeping track of time for all agenda items, including debate iv. Enforcing the attendance policy as outlined in the RHA Standing Operating Procedures
  • Ensuring the execution of Senate legislation policy and policy recommendation 
  • Overseeing the logistical efforts of all committees of the Senate 
  • Meeting routinely with senators-at-large and committee chairpersons
  • Maintaining regular contact with and serving as a mentor for senators 
  • Assisting the president in the completion of their duties however necessary

The Chief of Internal Affairs (CIA) shall serve as the coordinator of all internal RHA affairs. The following are duties of the CIA in greater detail:

  • Setting executive board meeting agendas, facilitating meeting conversations, and following up on action items or deadlines 
  • Overseeing fall and spring semester executive board retreats with the advice of the president 
  • Coordinating executive board community hours and the buddy mentorship program 
  • Maintaining knowledge of the executive board positional duties found in the RHA bylaws and holding executive board members accountable for these duties 
  • Booking meeting rooms, ensuring proper equipment, and managing other such logistical items 
  • Managing RHA’s office space, including scheduling 
  • Overseeing intra-organizational communication efforts, including taking minutes for Senate and executive board meetings and distributing them via email 
  • Maintaining RHA membership roster, listservs, and any other files deemed necessary by the executive team 
  • Assisting the president in duties however necessary

The Marketing and Technology Officer (MTO) shall serve as the manager of external communications for RHA. The following are duties of the MTO in greater detail:

  • Overseeing all RHA media, marketing, and public relations, particularly articles published by the Diamondback and the semesterly RHA newsletter
  • Liaising between RHA’s Diamondback reporter and relevant sources within the organization
  • Providing the executive board, committees, and councils with applicable information such as articles from the Diamondback and relevant media, press releases, and other pertinent documents from the University and other sources 
  • Acting as RHA’s social media and website manager
  • Managing technology within Senate such as vote tracking, resolution editing and slides 
  • Updating the RHA Constitution, Bylaws, and Standard Operating Procedures upon amendment and making amended copies available electronically
  • Maintaining regular contact with and serving as a mentor for Vice Presidents of Marketing and Communication

The Programming and Community Development Coordinator (PCDC) shall serve as the manager of programming and community development efforts for RHA.The following are duties of the PCDC in greater detail:

  • Overseeing executive board programming efforts, including but not limited to:
    • RHA’s Fall Welcome events 
    • Welcome Reception 
    • Year-End Reception 
  • Maintaining and distributing event-planning and philanthropic programming resources to resident councils 
  • Overseeing a semesterly council engagement competition 
  • Developing Program Good initiatives and distributing program information to councils 
  • Maintaining regular contact with and serving as a mentor for Vice Presidents of Programming and Community Development

The Student Fees Coordinator (SFC) shall serve as liaison between RHA and fee review committees. The following are duties of the SFC in greater detail:

  • Representing RHA at all fee-related meetings and advisory committees. 
  • Seeking feedback from the executive team and Senate for official RHA positions on student fees 
  • Coordinating with SGA and GSG to create a united student front regarding fees when possible 
  • Assisting Senate committees with reviewing non-mandatory fee proposals from their departments 
  • Making regular reports to Senate to inform the RHA body on the status of student fees

The SGOL shall serve as the liaison between RHA and other student groups and organizations. The following are duties of the SGOL in greater detail:

  • Representing RHA on campus committees as deemed necessary by the executive board, either in person or by proxy
  • Coordinating between RHA and the leadership and/or membership of other student organizations as deemed necessary by the executive board
  • Serving as liaison to the Student Government Association (SGA) and staying informed on all SGA meetings and happenings
  • Serving as liaison to the University Senate and staying informed on all University Senate meetings and happenings 
  • Providing leadership and coordination in cooperative efforts, programs, activities, or initiatives with other student groups as deemed necessary by the executive board or stipulated by resolutions adopted by the Senate

The National Communications Director (NCC) shall serve as liaison between RHA and National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH), Central Atlantic Association of College and University Residence Halls (CAACURH), and the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). The following are duties of the NCC in greater detail:

  • Coordinating RHA member attendance at NACURH-affiliated conferences
  • Keeping RHA members updated on all NACURH-affiliated events and information
  • Representing RHA on regional and NACURH levels as the organization’s NCC voting representative at conferences
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of the semesterly RHA Leadership Training Day 
  • Coordinating any award bid efforts on the regional and NACURH levels, in conjunction with NRHH, when appropriate

The Senators-at-Large (SALs) shall serve as voting-members of the Senate and mentors to the Senate body. The following are duties of the SALs in greater detail:

  • Serving in Senate and an assigned committee. 
  • Representing and liaising with a specific group of residential communities.
    • These communities shall be determined and assigned by the Vice President. 
  • Meeting regularly with the Senators from their communities.
  • Assisting the PCDC in supervising the buddy mentors for their communities. 
  • Serving, if needed, in the individual capacity of any executive board position in the interim period following a vacancy and before a new appointment is made. 
  • Assisting the executive board with the functions and operations of RHA as needed. 
  • Pursuing a policy initiative or project beyond the usual scope of a senator.
