There are 37,631 students at the University of Maryland.
There are 12,000+ living on campus.
There are 38 residence halls and on-campus apartments at UMD.
There are 11 communities within those 38 residence halls and apartments.
But there is only 1 RHA!

The University of Maryland Residence Hall Association is responsible for representing the needs of all on-campus students. We work with departments and offices all across campus to ensure that our students are having your voice heard. And better yet, we make things happen!

Care about sustainability? RHA works with students from each hall or area council in a campus-wide sustainability committee that is working to make UMD a greener place.

Care about what you're eating? RHA works with the Director of Dining Services to make sure the dining halls are reflecting the needs and desires of the students who eat there.

Care about where you're parking? RHA works with DOTS (Transportation Services) to work out new bus routes and even make parking less of a hassle. Did you know you can park at any meter free for 15 minutes? RHA did that!

Care about where you're living? RHA works with Residential Facilities to make sure that our buildings and facilities are the best they possibly can be.

Plus, we develop some of UMD's strongest leaders along the way!

Okay. So you care about your campus community, you want to be a great leader...now what? GET INVOLVED WITH RHA!

Each fall, we hold elections for various positions for each hall and area council. These positions include VP of Sustainability, VP of Inclusion, VP of Programming and Outreach, President, and Senators. All councils meet on a weekly basis, and Senators attend RHA Senate's bi-monthly meetings.  Floor representatives are also a great way to be involved with RHA, especially if you're just starting out. Want more information?Contact your community's Resident Director!

RHA provides you the opportunity to meet some awesome people and make invaluable connections with leaders and faculty all across campus. You could even go to CACURHH or NACURHH, our regional and national conferences! And we put on some great events like Sex Week, the South Campus Block Party, and the North Campus Luau.

We are also gearing up for the opening of our newest residence hall, Prince Frederick Hall! Doesn't it look great?

The executive team is preparing for what we know will be a great school year for both RHA and the University of Maryland. Watch out for more information regarding elections and we hope to see you at Fall Leadership Training Day!

To our returning students, welcome back!
And to our new Terps, WELCOME HOME
